Fat-tailed lamb follow up

Well I finally tasted my version of qawarma. No favas, no yoghurt, no mint I just warmed it up in a pan and spread it on bread and it was fabulous. Well spiced, lamby and delicious. There were only three of us and it was a snack with drinks before dinner. However, we polished off two-thirds of it and would have eaten it all if I'd warmed up the remaining third, but I'm keeping for my friend Naomi to taste this evening.

Dinner for a hot night

This is only my second post for August. I blame the weather. I'm not complaining about it, the heat is better than the cold, even when it's humid. However, by mid-afternoon my brain turns to mush and I find it difficult to focus. I end up dozing, which doesn't improve my mental powers, or playing sudoku which can help but usually just frustrates. So that's my excuse.

Still Eating

I may not be blogging but I am still eating and continuing to indulge my fava obsession. It is still hot in Toronto and I am discovering just how much heat my laptop can put out - way too much.
The secret to this salad is to put the dressing, Dijon, vinegar, extra virgin olive oil, salt and pepper on the potatoes while they are still warm. Cook the potatoes whole, cut them into quarters and toss gently with the dressing. Add the blanched, skinned favas not long before serving with lots of chopped chives. Peas are good too, add a little shredded mint with them and their less work than favas.
